Megaman 8-Bit Deathmatch Skin Tracker
Greetings, all! Recently I undertook this project to review all of the playable skins in the core version- that's right, all 146 of them- to see which ones we could improve upon. Going back and editing our old work has never been a priority when it comes to these, so a good number of them are still sporting their old sprites from the version they first released in. Heck, some of them are from the very first version of the game!
Since we've accepted community fixes for skins in the past, I thought it might be a nice idea to put together a semi-official list of what we on the devteam have identified as potential targets for improvements, so you can better focus your efforts and avoid stepping on each others' (or our) toes.
Introducing: The Great Big Megaman 8-Bit Deathmatch Core Skin Tracker!
This sheet will track the version that our skins were last updated, and whether they could use some TLC. They also include a column for jumping, jump & shooting, and run & gunning sprites, which were a new functionality added in V6C. If you've ever wanted to try submitting sprites to us to fix up an old or favorite skin, this is a good place to start to pick out someone you'd want to try doing.
A few ground rules for how this'll work:
1. When you want to claim a skin to work on, send me or Trillster a PM so I can put the claim on the list. I am debating whether to keep this anonymous, but for now, I won't be putting names on the sheet.
2. We will not implement any extra frames (jump & jump+shoot, or run+shoot) until every skin in the game has them finished. They are very, very distant stretch goals. You can work on them if you like, but this caveat is important to keep in mind.
3. Any skins with a red box in the D column are considered higher-priority targets, or skins we'd like to replace sooner than later. They may update to include new ones as time goes on and the more egregious ones are replaced.
4. Submitting a skin is the same process as it always has been on the forum: create a new topic in Bugs & Suggestions with the old and new sprite sheets side by side so we can compare them easily. Only submit one skin per topic!
5. If you claim & submit a skin, the devteam still reserves the right to edit or reject anything you submit. If accepted, you will be credited for the base work.
6. While nobody is stopping you from submitting remakes for skins listed as "No Changes", these are ones we are not prioritizing on the team. We'd prefer to fix the ones we know could use help before tackling the others.
7. Try not to claim too many skins at once! Give people a chance to contribute.
8. Try not to work on skins that were claimed so far, either! Better to spread the work around rather than have everyone converge on the same guys.
We're thankful for your work to make our game every tiny bit better. We're looking forward to seeing your submissions in the future!

DOS Reborn: The Robots are Reimagined!
wooooooooooow... speaking in my place... unbelievable...
MegaVile is largely correct, though- while most of the major players are still around, they've since moved onto other projects. We will probably upkeep it so it works with further versions and everything, but for now, it's in a solid spot that I'm largely happy with. unless i come up with a new Buoyman idea
A campaign has been floated every now and then and I can't lie and say it would be awesome to do one, but I haven't the slightest clue how that all works. I am now on the official devteam, so maybe I'll learn about how to do it from there and we can revisit the concept later, but I don't really want to tackle something that I have 0 idea how to do.
Regarding the skins, I think most of them are largely... fine? Medaru's work is generally stuff I'd consider to hold up very well, and I know he handled most of the skins. Are there any particular ones you'd be interested in seeing updated?

Freezer Bowl Fridays!
Whaddya mean September is already halfway finished? Sheesh...
This month's schedule is late, but better late than never! We took a week off to give folks a little time to play the much awaited indie-hit sensation Silksong, then played a more lowkey FBF on the 12th with some randomized layout Team Deathmatch. The two heavy hitters are Saxton Hale making a return and a newly tweaked Possession mode by BullGator! (I promise it's going to be more fun than the last time we tried it)
Hope you'll join us!

Freezer Bowl Fridays!
August is upon us, and that means another Freezer Bowl Friday schedule!
Things are a little less modification heavy this month as we try out some tried-and-true classics. We kick things off by trying the Hyperfighting mod made by Messatsu, which advertises some fun changes to the base movement and plenty of weapon tweaks. Skulltag makes an appearance in our second week before Scorched Earth—this time with custom weapons! To end things, we'll try out Weapon Master to see who can master single weapon matches!
I am aware the 29th is a Friday this month. If we decide to host another one that day, I'll make an appendix to this schedule!
Hope to see you there!

MM8BDM but your black
Just going to put this out there pre-emptively before anyone decides to post something stupid: behave yourselves.
Interesting mod. Does it do replacements by different shades and skintones, or does it just look for one color/range and replace it with one color?

Freezer Bowl Fridays!
Greetings all—it's the July edition of Freezer Bowl Fridays! Thankfully, no events were missed this time with the holiday last weekend. I hope to get these out on a more timely manner going forward! (We'll see how that goes...)
This month, we'll be taking a look at Mighty Deathmatch Burst, a new classes mod which has seen some play in recent months—and on the other end of the spectrum is Screw Scramble, a mod of the past making its grand return! We polish off the month with some rootin', tootin', Texan-Style shootin' in Gunslingers. Hope to see you all there!
