I was and am a huge fan of Gunslingers, a simple mod Ehibika came out with way back when and Russel updated later down the line. I'm realizing I actually have no idea if it's v6b-compatible these days, but the idea is just that everyone gets the same six-shooter revolver-- shooting someone up close is an instant kill, but damage ramps down quickly over distance and rapid-firing reduces accuracy. It's really basic, but wound up being a ton of fun!

It never really took off, though-- typically a few friends and I would have a server up on TSPG for a week or so and all change to cowboy names and have a blast, but although we would get some other folks passing through the servers, they never lasted long.

This isn't up to MM8BDM either way, this would need to be implemented in Zandronum.

There is somewhat a point, even if small, although it wont be used in vanilla at all it could be used for minor details, and give more mappers a chance at creativity, although i agree it isnt much of a priority.

Sprite portraits of The Summoner (Female 3) from Fire Emblem Heroes I commissioned from Croby. If you want to use them, make sure to credit him.

Is there a point to having a custom tool for it? I don't imagine a lot of maps will be using it aside from a couple for aesthetic/gimmick purposes? And also no maps for the vanilla game have anything of that sort, so It seems less likely for us to have a simple tool/object for it unlike jump pads or water, which are used very commonly throughout the vanilla maps. I mean I'm no vanilla dev and ultimately the decision is up to them, but from what I can tell having an easier way to make them doesn't seem to be a priority.

I'm curious if there are any obscure mods that had unique gameplay but were completely overlooked and weren't played much by the multiplayer community, or were forgotten about due to receiving a lack of updates for a long time?

We're live on the new forums, which means a new thread for REAL!

The REAL Pack

REAL is a fusion between The Reef (my own map pack) and Alpacka (LlamaHombre's map pack) with an extra category thrown in for maps the two of us worked on together. With 18 maps in all, we hope you enjoy!

Grab it from TSPG or Dropbox!

Music and asset credits can be found within each pack's respective README in the main pack's pk3, as well as usage restrictions.

Thanks for playing!

This is peak
In modded play (Gondola, mostly) I've grown quite fond of using the Automap for keeping track of my position, as well as briefly tracking other important pieces of map-level information. Vanilla in comparison has little if anything to display to the player, when it could potentially be adding much more.

Below are a list of my suggested additions to the automap, starting with ones that I think are pivotal to improving gameplay experience and ending on ones that are more wishlist additions, or those with more questionable gameplay effect:

-Stationary markers for Objective Gamemodes, like Flag Spawners (CTF), Helmet Spawners (Skulltag) and Point Totems (Skulltag)

    - Markers for Weapon Tokens (all modes).

    - A marker that replaces the Player Arrows that represent you and your teammates in play, or all players while spectating
-- Some indicator of their facing direction.

    - Markers that indicate dropped or freshly spawned Objectives, including Flags, Helmets, the Circuit Board, the Terminator Pickup.

    - Markers that indicate Objectives in Motion, including Flags, Helmets, the Circuit Board, the Terminator Pickup.

    - Markers that indicate Large Health/Ammo Pickup locations, regardless of whether they are currently on respawn or not.

Personally I would be content with just the top three, but I figured I would list more in case there was desire for the rest. Some of these could be linked to server variables if needed? Thanks for any consideration.
